Mother/Father is an American band and art collective based in Nashville, TN. Mother/Father was founded in the winter of 2007 between New York, Nashville, & Southern Florida. Their body of work includes music and multimedia artwork (in the form of drawings, paintings, design and video). Rather than calling themselves a band, they prefer to be categorized as a group of artist making music. The group’s first piece of recorded music, The Mother/Father EP, was self-released this month & was recorded by Jacquire King (Kings Of Leon, Modest Mouse, Tom Waits).

Scene Magazine described them as “the poppier moments of Joy Division and the darker side of The Cure.” While their musical influances lean towards The Temptations and Roy Orbison, the group has been criticized in the musical press as Post-Punk with an air of Detroit Soul. Mother/Father have responded, in turn, that any fans of The Sound, Brian Eno, The Chameleons, Smashing Pumpkins, Slow Dive, My Bloody Valentine or The Cure should check them out.
