i’m matt i play the bass guitar. i do a bit of singing too

How many instruments to do you play?

i started playing piano a long time ago. i’ve gotten a little rusty since then. i mainly stick to guitar, bass, and harmonicas, which is fewer than i’d like ..i’ve got a banjo too which i play around with from time to time. if i could find a working accordian i’d surely attempt to master that instrument as well. our organ player (kyle) can play just about anything though . i’m sure he’d be able to teach me some things.

Worst live show experience?

we always generally have fun when we play but i can remember one time smashing bottles and getting into a fist fight on stage and then being banned from the smiling buddha, which is all the same to me because i never particularly liked that venue. the booker asked us to play another show a couple months later which we had to decline.

First record you ever bought and where did you buy it?

that’s down right embarrassing.. the first record i ever bought was a Dr. Dre CD he had some all right tunes on there , i lost it shortly after buying it though. it must have been fate..

Last illegal download?

i generally support the bands i like but i think i downloaded deerhunter’s “microcastle”. i have seen them live though so i’m not a complete scoundrel hahha

What are you listening to right now?

the black lips “good bad not evil”..if you want to have a laugh there are a few videos of them on their website where they go down to Louisiana and brew some homemade shoeshine . its great

Name one song you’d hate to have stuck in your head.

if i bother to think of one it will probably get stuck in my head.. but i’ll tell you I’ve had some new animal collective tracks stuck in my head lately and i’m pretty happy about that.

Name 3 things you need when you travel.

a guitar is always essential. its important to smell good too but you can always sample colognes at the local holt renfrew or wherever. so i’m going to have to say a guitar , a pair of good walking shoes and some sunglasses. a trusty companion is always a nice too.

What is your favorite thing you own?

i’m not sure i don’t own too many things. i just bought a new bass guitar though. well, its from 1964 but its new to me

When you are out on the town, what is your drink of choice?

alchohol is always my drink of choice whether i’m in town or not. i n the morning i like a glass of orange juice though. and the day after i drink lots of alchohol i usually like to call water my best friend. i really like milk to which apparently not so many people are a fan of these days. its a wholesome beverage to accompany any bakery snack.

Stupidest thing you’ve done in the last 12 months?

i’ve done so many stupid things in the last year that its hard to remember them all . ill tell you though the smartest thing i did was take a year off from my classes at york university, that was brilliant timing since they’ve been on strike for half the year now. but as far as stupid things i cant say i’ve fucked up to badly. its just little day to day decisions . nothing grandiose. i’m sure you could ask any of my friends and they’d be happy to have an input on this topic.

shit i don’t know if anyone wants to hear this its pretty disgusting but when i was younger i had to have my head amputated and replaced with a head not so good looking. i was better looking back then. smarter too.

What’s next?

i’m going to get a glass of water. because i had to much to drink last night. than i’m going to take a little stroll. its not good to sit in front of a computer for more than half hour intervals
