The Color Turning at La Malinche 05.07.09 (photos)

Wanting to do something a little different here in Tucson, we decided to put on a free show at La Malinche, a local art gallery in downtown Tucson. We brought in The Color Turning from L.A. to play an acoustic set.

After interviewing the dudes & getting to know them a little better I found they were extremely humble, down to earth, & had a great sense of humor. They even allowed one of the artists from the gallery to tag the side of their trailer with “Welikeit.indie”. It came out a whole lot bigger than any of us had expected but they were great sports and just laughed it off. I’m sure by now its covered with a few layers of white paint, unless of course we made an impression and they’re still willing to promote our site!

La Malinche was the perfect backdrop for an intimate show. Everyone sat Indian style around the band and listened as they transformed their usual electric set into an unconventional acoustic arrangement. It’s been almost a week and the eerie notes of “Me Versus Me” (their current single) still softly linger in my head.

The Color Turning has been one of my favorite live shows so far. They still have a couple of remaining shows on their current tour. See the dates below & make sure to check them out. It’s a must!
