The Wooden Birds release debut album

The Wooden Birds, Barsuk’s latest addition, are released their debut full-length Magnolia on Tuesday. The latest project by Andrew Kenny, best known as the singer/songwriter behind mellow indie favorites the American Analog Set, Magnolia rolls by like a float down an ambient indie-rock river on a lazy summer day. Kenny & Barsuk are ecstatic to give you another treat of this gem with the new track “False Alarm.” Full of guitar-top drumming & beautiful harmonies, & anchored by Kenny’s percolating, vibey bass, fans of the AmAnSet will recognize his voice & song writing immediately, but the arrangements on Magnolia are more vocal & percussion heavy than anything he’s done before. Kenny & the Birds already hit the east coast for a few weeks in early April and are now announcing the first leg of their nation wide tour (with more dates to come soon!). Dates are below.

  • This is a really good album. Not sure I like it quite as much as Kenny’s stuff in the American Analog Set, but really solid album nonetheless.
