New York City’s own bass heavy club music champions, the Trouble & Bass crew, deliver the goods on this latest installment of the Scion CD Sampler series. Download the whole shabang HERE or pick your favorite below.

01. Drop the Lime- We Are the Future: T&B’s head honcho sets off the collection of tracks with a auditory calvary charge. An arpeggiated synth melody and Braveheart-style rallying oratory drive this monster of a track over heavy synth bass permutations. Straight down to business. 133BPM

02. AC Slater- Calm Down: With a handful of nods to the almighty drum and bass genre, AC Slater delivers a seriously heavy exercise in Dubstep pugilism. Leaving the downbeat open on most measures (which AC does to great effect in this piece) is highly recommended to seekers of the funk. Manly vocals are doubleplusgood. 139/69.5BPM

03. Drop the Lime – Howling: Attention all fans of 8-bit jump offs and Chiptunes! Mr. Lime serves up a heavy blend of retro video game sounds and his own wild bassline antics on this offering. A very dynamic track with great builds and drops throughout. If you hate video game sounds, the hi-hat part alone is worth the price of admission. Oh wait… It’s a free CD! Bonus round! 129BPM

04. Acid Jacks – Crazy Legs!: Acid Jacks lives up to his moniker on this track without question. Straight up house and acid, no chaser. A very accessible dancefloor track certain to please House devotees, Electro fans, & even possibly some kid’s aunt who’s never heard a club track. 126BPM

05. Mikix the Cat – Handz Up: High-energy track with a very mondern take on early techno drum and synth programming. Tastefully pitched and modified vocal samples, party atmosphere, and offbeat shouts give this song a party break feeling that lacks nothing in the momentum department. 131BPM

06. Drop the Lime – Tabac Theme: A brilliant and natural sounding snare loop propel this solid track featuring a focused bassline doubled effectively by a higher synth. Never dipping off in energy, this track points in a bass heavy brazilian samba direction. 133BPM

07. Starkey – Listen In: A unique offering, Starkey delivers the given Trouble and Bass low-end workout over a surprisingly broken beat. Entering into territory often overlooked these days, the track offers a very interesting look into the realm of the inevitable wave of breakbeats and 21st century bass and rhythm music. 128BPM

08. Little Jinder – Youth Blood: Right from the get go, this joint is pure disco boogie. Sweet 80s synths abound. Possibly the most traditionally “pop” structured track on this sampler, Youth Blood features a well reverbed female vocal about being young, hot, and full of life. “I’m a vampire hunting for fun”… You can’t successfully hate on that. 119BPM

09. Udachi – Jellyroll: Udachi is becoming a force to be reckoned with. This track is one example. It’s one of his more half-time, Dub-steppy outings without question, but one gets the feeling Udachi would probably kill a track in any heavy synth bass sub-genre. The track is rife with “oh snap!” moments on the bass synth trickery alone, but you need look no further than the first 45 seconds of the track to know… this guy actually listens to and understands original Dub music. 127BPM

10. Math Head – Come To Me feat. Illvia: This track melds a soulful R&B-style vocal with the weighty basslines, arpeggiated synths, and production chops of modern electronic music skillfully. Very well structured, Come To Me conveys an emotive story in the forceful Trouble and Bass manner we’ll all soon be accustomed to. 134/67BPM
