Spesus Christ:

“i wake up soaked, on a cold concrete floor littered with dissolving cardboard and broken glass. i can vaguely recall the past 24 hours: they were difficult. very difficult. my limbs are battered and stiff and ache to the marrow. the tar of cigarette smoke burns my nose, i sense his presence, and Spesus Christ offers me a nervous but firm hand. he looks like shit. i don’t even want to know what i look like at this moment. my head is pounding like an 808 drum machine. “this isn’t how i pictured it ending,” i croak. “this is not the end,” the cheap whiskey on his breath does not inspire confidence. i tell Spesus that i’m not worried, but it’s the farthest thing from the truth i can imagine right now. i just don’t want to let him down; even after he has repeatedly let me down. somehow i keep giving in. i take his hand and pull myself up. at this point, there’s no looking back.”
