Meet Modernboys Moderngirls
Modernboys Moderngirls (MBMG) are officially releasing their debut album, I Might As Well Break It on September 15. The album was self-produced by singer, songwriter & guitarist Akira Alemany & mixed by Ryan Mills (Born Ruffians, Most Serene Republic).
In 2008, the band printed an early cut of the album so they could book summer festivals & have something to put on their merch table at shows. This official release features additional recordings, 3 new songs, & has been re-mixed & re-mastered to prepare the album for an international release. The record will be released independently by the band, & distributed by Fontana North. It will be available in stores across Canada & you can buy it now digitally in the US.
In the past year, MBMG has built their reputation off of their rave performances, amassing critical buzz & attention nation-wide at Edgefest, Canadian Music Week, Halifax Pop Explosion, North by Northeast, & SCENE Music Festival. Their CD Release show is scheduled for September 18th at Sneaky Dee’s in Toronto. The 3-piece band which along with Alemany includes Brett Millius (drums, backing vocals) & Juan Carlos Rivas (bass) will be kicking off their tour this fall with dates in Canada & the U.S.
