The Moi Non Plus are a LOUD drum / guitar / sample duo from Amsterdam with a sound informed by such bands as Liars, The Lapse, TV on the Radio, Blonde Redhead & Sonic Youth. Already generating buzz with their ferocious live show, Smalltown America will release their self-titled debut on October 26 (out physically in Netherlands).
The 12 tracks combine the unsettling & the explosive – simultaneously unpredictable yet rhythmically pulsating art rock delivered with lung scorching vocal intensity & rib-rattling guitar drones.
The band members have strong roots in the Dutch underground arts scene. Singer/Guitar player Bas Morsch is founder of the Amsterdam based indie/Art magazine That Dam! while drummer Leon Caren is the founder of Holland’s leading underground arts collective SUBBACULTCHA! including the record label through which their album was self-released in 2008 which alongside a slew of glowing reviews also garnered a nomination for best record of 2008 by 3voor12 (the leading dutch music site) & VPRO (Dutch national radio station).
