…even though you’re with another girl
Danish producer & multi-instrumentalist Trentemøller recently debuted the video for “…Even Though You’re With Another Girl,” the 2nd single from his new album, Into The Great Wide Yonder. After the warm reaction to the long-player, Trentemøller also just released a single for this track, accompanied by a diverse set of remixes.
The video, directed by Adam Hashemi, plays like a surreal short film. The story centers around a man uncomfortable bringing his girlfriend to meet his parents, avoiding eye contact throughout the affair. Suddenly, things take an unexpected turn, as the room fills with steam, & the man flies out the window. He drifts away into unknown territory, filled with burlesque dancers, faceless figures & a carpet stained blood-red.
The single itself is on an extremely limited 7”, with the original version chiming & drifting across the A-side. Gracing the B-side is Mikael Simpson’s remix, which simply allows pianos, strings & tape overdubs to bring out the beauty in Josephine Philip’s (Darkness Falls) vocal.
Alongside the single comes a 12” that features remixes by Kollektiv Turmstrasse & Pantha Du Prince. The Kollektiv’s half of the record slaps a heavy dose of deep, dark funk into this lo-slung version. Pantha Du Prince’s creates a remix based on his trademark twinkling melodies and warmly grooving understated beats, twisting and turning with dubbed out vocals.
