How did I become a victim of society?

Scion A/V has tapped New York psych-disco trio WIN WIN for the latest installment of the ongoing remix series. Here XXXchange, Devlin & Ghostdad offer “Victim”, the track featuring future-soul comrade Blaqstarr from their recent full-length on Vice Records. The trio will be playing the track live in venues across N. America during their 19-stop, Scion-sponsored tour with The Death Set this spring (dates after the break).

“Victim” is an anthemic, electronic garage conundrum, post-patriotic & awash in distorted, dismantled guitar that regularly recoils from the edge of combustion. Gigamesh shoves the grungy original onto the dance-floor & in an unexpected turn, Atlanta “flower punks” Black Lips relish the opportunity to put their lo-fi stamp on the track by dragging out a blippy garage stomper. Conversely, The Post Rikers Rapp Starrs bang on a spacious techno builder while the mayor of LA electro, Them Jeans AKA Jason Stewart, closes out the record with a remix that features big-beat & house touches.

WIN WIN encapsulate a wide array of influences, & they plan to deliver the fruits of their labor to audiences this spring, taking the idea of live electronic music a step further. The WIN WIN live-set is an amalgam of visual & auditory stimuli- while XXXchange & Devlin provide a bed of drums & synths, Ghostdad manipulates live video accordingly, immersing the audience completely in a truly unique experience. Follow Scion A/V on twitter, they will be giving tickets away to each show.

All remixes are available for free download pick your faves below! I like them all.

Dan Black + Passion Pit

Tantalising & stimulating eardrums, Dan Black has been hailed as Pop’s bright new hope by everyone from Zane Lowe to Perez Hilton & was a regular feature in the 2009 One To Watch polls. Now the Paris-based Englishman has updated & fleshed out his blogospherically massive Notorious BIG tribute “Hypntz” into the fully fledged space pop anthem “Symphonies”. Fusing the ubiquitous beat from Rihanna’s “Umbrella” with heavily chopped-up samples from the film soundtrack of John Carpenter’s “Starman”, this is a perfect, effortlessly joyous marriage of laptop hip hop with tip top hip pop.

Dan’s debut album ((Un)) is out on July 6th and melds the musical attributes of Paul’s Boutique, “Hatful Of Hollow” and “Supa Dupa Fly” with a lost 80’s sci-fi soundtrack & is nothing short of brilliant.

Passion Pit is here… Rusko, David E Sugar & Hot City still to come.

Flosstradamus + Jokers Of The Scene & Blaqstarr

“Big Bills” ft. Caroline Polachek was released back in December through the Green Label Sound & apparently they’ve been adding remixes to the project. Besides the remix of Floss himself, there’s 2 other ones by Jokers Of The Scene & Blaqstarr.

Shilo Presents: Blaqstarr

This is everywhere & there’s a reason for it… Shilo’s We Make It Good mixtapes are always epic!

Sounding like a psychedelic spaceship mixed with “There’s a Riot Goin On” era Sly Stone, their new We Make It Good mix is a sick, twisted, glimpse into the mouth of madness that is Blaqstarr. Crafted from the confines of his illustrious Baltimore bunker he’s created more of a radio broadcast than a mixtape. Odd pauses, stops, starts all hauntingly crooned over by a true maniac. If this is your first introduction to Baltimore’s finest be sure to check out the King Of Roq mixtape and his other releases on Diplo’s Mad Decent label. Guaranteed to take you “from the durdy to the air”!!!
