GoldenGirls is a one-man (Matthew Vlahovich) indie dance/synthpop project from Toronto, Canada. Drawing influence from new wave & post punk genres, GoldenGirls’ sound is often compared to that of New Order, The Cure, & Cut Copy. Their stomping dance tracks & raw pop hooks have landed them a wide range of bookings from Toronto Fashion Week to Steam Whistle Brewery’s Indie Music Nights, to art openings, magazine launch parties, & countless other dance parties in Canadian cities.
Since their debut in April 2008, GoldenGirls has put out two releases on Automatt Records including remixes of the single “Do The Criminal”, featuring Brooklyn-based producers Designer Drugs. The second single, “The Big League”, was featured twice on the popular Quebec television talk show Tout Le Monde En Parle.
GoldenGirls’ ability to bridge indie rock and dance music communities has resulted in a global fan following. From Bogota to Los Angeles to Moscow, DJs around the globe have contacted GoldenGirls & been playing their tracks at dance parties.
