Yacht have also decided to post instrumental versions of the tracks on See Mystery Lights with a non-commercial Creative Commons license. They’re available HERE. Last but not least, YACHT have put together a mixtape called Anthem of a Trinity as a companion to See Mystery Lights. It is a 37 minutes long continuous mix of that reveals the music that influenced Yacht while recording the new album. It is available now on the States Rights Records’ website.

A message from Yacht about posting the instrumental tracks:

“YACHT feels that the draconian enforcements of the major record labels on third-party users of music are deeply inappropriate to the times in which we live. These instrumentals are free to use for all non-commercial purposes, including (but not limited to): karaoke performances, confessional YouTube soundtracks, student films, personal analysis, atmospheric music, cover versions, chopping and screwing, or just to listen to if you don’t enjoy YACHT’s vocal performances.”

Max Tundra covers Hot Chip

Domino’s Max Tundra recently covered an early track from Hot Chip. Beautiful! The tune is off Hot Chip’s 2005 release Coming On Strong.

“Playboy” | download

In other Tundra news, his album Parallax Error Beheads ended up #27 on Pitchfork’s. year-end album chart. Get it now on iTunes.

Pitchfork:

“In a year when eternal punchline Chinese Democracy finally arrived, another long-awaited album was met with equal fervor by a much smaller, more bespectacled fanbase. Flying under the radar since 2002’s spectacular Mastered by Guy at the Exchange, Ben Jacobs spent six years caressing every single knot out of this vertiginous opus, creating a pop masterpiece tailor made for laptop-shackled music junkies. However, that’s not to say Parallax Error Beheads You isn’t fun, catchy, or energetic. While you still need a road map to navigate the dizzying song structures, Jacobs sounds a hundred times more confident as a pop vocalist here, diffusing the cerebral instrumentation with nutty lyrics referencing iPods, Google image searches, and his boyish quest for a significant other. High-concept? Definitely. But there’s a warm heart inside this digital labyrinth.”
