Mad Decent 2010

Mad Decent has had a paramount year with releases from Diplo & Switch’s dancehall collaboration Major Lazer, Dominican by way of the Bronx cumbia songstress Maluca, a Buraka Som Sistema remix EP & more.
Garnering the cover of the Fader Music Issue, alongside features in Paste, XLR8R, Billboard, URB, Big Shot & Anthem, Mad Decent is preparing for their most challenging and exciting year to come with the announcement of three new signings: Rusko, Bosco Delrey & Popo.
Mad Decent will jump start spring with the first full-length release from UK dubstep phenom, Rusko. The N. American debut, “OMG”, follows massive singles like Mr. Chips & Cockney Thug + recent remixes for Kid Cudi, Basement Jaxx, Little Boots, The Prodigy, Kid Sister & tons more. It is slated for a March 2010 release & features new productions alongside collaborations with Crookers, Chali 2una + more.
After strong reception from their first 7″ release, “Kill Tonight”, everyone’s favorite gigantic Pakistani 3-some, Popo, will release their debut full length this spring on Mad Decent. The 3 Philadelphia brothers blend reverb-drenched garage with a youthful punk spirit to make loud, melodic washes of noise & pop. Ariel Rechtshaid, producer of the most recent Cass McCombs & We Are Scientists albums, will be contributing to the production roles.
A relatively unknown songwriter, Bosco Delrey, is the newest member of the Mad Decent collective of artists. His unique version of rockabilly, dub & electronic music make him a likely candidate to join the Mad Decent family. His music was brought to the attention of Diplo via Paul Devro (resident Mad Decent DJ) & friend 77Klash. Bosco’s interpretation of Chuck Berry’s “Round & Round” tipped the scales and lead to signing him for a full length, slated for release in 2010.
Mad Decent will also be embarking on an evolution of their on-line space. Bringing on writers, editors, artists & the like to expose news, music, culture, art & so forth via their website. The undertaking has taken months but is a very exciting venture for the Mad Decent team. Expect columns by Jason Musson of Too Black For BET, Skerrit Bwoy At The Movies & zombie fights to name a few.
You can also expect a retrospective of the Hollertronix series, where Diplo cut his teeth at the now seminal Philadelphia party thru a cadre of white label edits & mix records.
All of this will be started with an early 2010 release of a Mad Decent label compilation, featuring a retrospective of past favorites, unreleased remixes & brand new material from the roster.
If you thought 2009 was Mad Decent’s finest, you ain’t seen nothing yet!
