Open up for Mew

The Danish trio, Mew have confirmed their plans to pay it forward to local U.S. bands on their upcoming tour. Throughout Mew’s touring career in the states, the band has been given numerous & critical opportunities to open for some of the biggest names in music. And now it’s their chance to do the same for one lucky band in each of the 8 selected markets on their Fall 2009 tour.

Mew will be giving local bands in 8 different markets on their upcoming headlining tour this fall (see asterisked dates after the jump) an opportunity to submit themselves to be chosen as direct support for Mew. Mew & Columbia Records have teamed up with Absolute Punk to host, “Open for Mew,” in the following markets: Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, Boston, Portland, & New York City.

Mew announce US dates with Nine Inch Nails

“Mew sound so good live it kind of pisses me off,” tweets Trent Reznor. So good, that Mew will be joining NIN for a handful of U.S. dates in addition to the UK dates the band is currently on. Mew will also play select headline dates in Boston, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco & Seattle in which they will be performing new songs off their highly anticipated upcoming release: No more stories, are told today, I’m sorry, they washed away,
No more stories the world is grey, I’m tired, Let’s wash away
.

Mew is Jonas Bjerre, Bo Madsen, & Silas Utke Graae Jørgensen. The Danish trio is known for their art rock, indie sentiment that’s stadium quality. Using visuals designed by lead singer, Jonas Bjerre, their show
injects the audience with a dream-like experience that lasts well after their 45 min set is over.

Entertainment Weekly explains,

“Large in both sound and concept…Mew surge forth on dark, driving guitars, overwhelming vocal melodies and retro-sounding syths showing fews signs of restraint.” And last time the band played the states Filter raved, “Mew’s time in the US was all too short…to say that people were wowed by these shows would be the biggest understatement of the year. The blogs were swimming with hyperbole from their debut show in New York to the last show in LA.”

Don’t miss out on your chance to experience Mew! Check out this new track from the upcoming album & also included on their new EP No More Stories.
