Free EP from Cubic Zirconia: Ready to Slide

Brooklyn’s acid-soaked space-house soul-searchers Cubic Zirconia, have put together an EP titled Ready To Slide with mainly songs that have been sitting around. Instead of being forgotten through time, they decided to give them all away for free. One of tracks belongs to the Fool’s Gold commissioned mixes of Kid Cudi’s single “Make Her Say”. You can find the remixes by Afrojack & Nadastrom here, here & Sammy Bananas’ at the end of this post.

New song by Telephoned ft. Teli of Ninjasonik

“Turn My Swag On” has been Telephoned! The NYC group just announced the release of their newest track featuring Telli Federline of the party rap crew Ninjasonik. Sammy & Maggie transform Soulja Boy’s original into a “Live Your Life” style pop hook just before destroying their creation into rugged dubstep . Expanding on the Telephoned formula, the new song makes their potential clear.

Telephoned was born one night in Brooklyn when DJ/producer Sammy Bananas & singer/party starter Maggie Horn decided to record their own version of T-Pain’s “Can’t Believe It”. Their track was neither remix nor cover – instead, the duo fashioned a postmodern take on both, warping the original beat into a hypnotic club track and bringing out the dreamy qualities only hinted at in Pain’s auto-tuned melodies. Sammy & Maggie’s fresh “Can’t Believe It” quickly became a DJ favorite – even making it into mix rotation on LA hip-hop station Power 106! – so they decided to keep recording as a team, cleverly named after the kids game of Telephone: no faithful copies, just a party line of unexpected twists.

For their second release, “Pop Champagne” they transformed Ron Browz’ rap hit into a spacey dancefloor gem (“Bottle service electro meets Triplets Of Belleville!” says Ms Horn) that’s instantly addictive and massively charming.

NYC, Maggie Horn mixtape release party! 2morrow (01.14)

Maggie’s tracks have been drawing attention left and right — from the ravers, club kids, and backpackers, to the streetwear whores, hipsters and bboys. It’s that intoxicating combination of music and attitude that has made heads from NY to LA take notice… and then make them shake / stir / get crunk on the rocks.

The Siren Mixtape, produced by Good Peoples and crafted by Baltimore Club Godfather Scottie B, features collaborations with Maggie Horn and such talented and prolific producers such as Blaqstarr (Mad Decent), Curses! (Institubes) and Teenwolf (Ninjasonik).

She’ll be performing LIVE with her eclectic music family tomorrow Wednesday, January 14th, for her Siren Mixtape Release Party: http://rsvp.good-peoples.com

Below you’ll find that “Can’t Believe It” cover with Sammy Bananas BUT if you click HERE you’ll have access to the entire mixtape (2 folders, the mix with individual tracks and the-one-long-track version)!

Keep an eye on her, because this triple threat (songwriter, singer, and DJ) has more on the way. Her EP with Curses! dropped yesterday (01.12) via Institubes, & her record with the innovative Savant Guard Records comes out later in the year.
