I mentioned the upcoming tour from the Tapes before, but they just added 6 new dates. If you live in Sante Fe, Norman, Sioux Falls, Pittsburgh, Carrboro & Louisville you will be have the opportunity to see them live because you are the addition! Look for your city below.

They also announced that Wild Light will be opening for them in the entire tour! If you Live in NYC or L.A., you may have seen them opening for Arcade Fire at Randall Island or Hollywood Bowl. Here’s a song that goes with the theme. A couple months back Minneapolis indie rockers Tapes N’ Tapes asked AmpLive to give “The Dirty Dirty,” the closer from their XL debut, Walk It Off, a facelift. Of course, the band probably didn’t expect to receive four minutes of hip hop social commentary about the current financial crisis, capitalizing on the particularly relevant lyric “where did all the money go?” But that’s what they got. The result is below, and worth a listen. The song re-contextualizes singer Josh Grier’s lyrics and splices in snippets of audio from the evening news & the election.

“we’ve got all sorts of tapes news for you. things have been good here in the tapes camp, considering the way the economy’s totally gone in the toilet. there’s been lots of football, working on new songs, and other glorious things going on. but soon the winter’s going set in, and with the winter, comes the cold and the dark. so we decided to get outta town and go on tour. when january rolls around we’re hitting the road for a couple months. we’re going to be touring all over the U.S. of A., playing in places we’ve never played before (boulder, boise, lawrence, ames, south bend…we’re talking to you) and places we know and love (everywhere else, we’re talking to you). there’s gonna be lots of smaller clubs, some new songs, and maybe even some new arrangements (the other day, josh dicovered this thing called an accoustic guitar…it’s nuts!). but rest assured, there will still be plenty of good old fashioned rock music.”
