Where the Sky Ends

I listened to this False Future edit of “Where the Sky Ends” the entire weekend. After The Color Turning listened to this, they’ve been mulling over releasing an actual remix record. That will be AMAZING!

Q&As with Steve Scavo of The Color Turning

I want to thank Steve Scavo from The Color Turning for taking some time out of his busy scheduled to answer a few questions. The guys are currently on tour & will be playing tonight at Studio 7 in Seattle, WA.

001. Describe The Color Turning in 3 words…

    Kind. Understanding. Crass.

002. How many instruments to do you play?

I play the guitar, the piano and the voice.

003. First record you ever bought and where did you buy it?

I think it was Rush’s Hemispheres album – I believe at a little record store in Tustin, CA called Top Ten Records.

004. What are you listening to right now?

The new Phoenix album, “Wolfgang Amadeus”, is really good, as is Passion Pit’s “Manners” LP.

005. What posters did you have on your wall as a kid?

I remember having a giant Jewel poster next to my bed. I was a big Jewel fan.

006. Name one song you’d hate to have stuck in your head.

    Who Let the Dogs Out

007. Name 3 things you need when you travel.

    Toothpaste
    Sunflower Seeds
    iPhone

008. What is your favorite thing you own?

Aside from my musical equipment, I love my golf clubs.

009. Dead or alive, what 5 acts would you have play with you at a festival?

    Radiohead
    Rush
    The Beatles
    Frank Sinatra
    Bob Dylan

010. Favorite city to play?

    Vancouver, BC

011. Which song do you think the audience reacts to/enjoys most?

    Me Versus Me

012. Where in the world have you had your most memorable moments playing live?

Most memorable performances include The Greek Theatre in Berkeley (with STP and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club) and the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver BC. The Canadians are such great people. Both cities, Berkeley and Vancouver, are very open-minded and enthusiastic about music.

013. What does The Color Turning do right before a show? Any rituals?

We tend to try and enjoy a really great meal. We’re food nerds at heart.

014. Stupidest thing you’ve done in the last 12 months?

I just recently shotgunned a beer with Garet in Portland. I had never done that before so it was about time. I suck at drinking.

015. What’s next?

I’m going to shave this annoying “tour” beard and get a haircut. After that, we’ll probably write new music and keep touring.

End.

Good Hands Bad Blood trailer (extended)

This is a trailer for the documentary to be included with The Color Turning’s upcoming debut LP Good Hands Bad Blood. Robert Clarence Marshall photographed, directed, edited & produced the documentary. Over the span of months, he captured much of the band’s time in the studio, various live performances & a handful of interviews. It was filmed using a mixture of 8mm, 16mm, and HD cameras.

Good Hands Bad Blood is a promising album & I can’t wait to see what these guys do in the future. If you missed the acoustic performance we shot back in May, click here & here to check it out. Stay tuned for more footage coming in the next few months.
